Aline Gia Perino & Nina Evelyn Pfüller / Dance Company ONE

 

This surrealistic dance piece is inspired by the Swiss artist Meret Oppenheim and her artwork “The Green Spectator”, also known as “One who watches another die”. The dance piece reflects Oppenheim's focus on the subconscious, the playful creation of art and explores surrealistic expression and creation in dance. They question the current social behavior of a mass of ‘spectators’. ‘Watchers’, from their TVs or mobile phones of the brutal events, catastrophes, political positions of power and threatening social developments. The question is posed as to how this role as a ‘spectator’ influences us psychologically and subconsciously and how this changes our perception of freedom and identity.
