Exploring Identity, Place, and Femininity through Dance
Project/Residency Timeframe:
27/7/26 - 06/08/26
A "place" is not merely a physical location; it is charged with emotional meaning, memory, and social significance. It encompasses tangible geography as well as intangible elements like beliefs, feelings, and symbolic power. This complex blend creates a unique connection between nature and culture. In Israel, the notion of “place” is intricate, influenced by diverse ethnicities, religions, and histories. Similarly, in Québec- a region marked by the legacy of French colonization and British conquest, identity is shaped by a unique cultural hybridity.
The work explores how femininity is experienced, expressed, and shaped by different "places", both geographically and culturally. The project is asking: how does place challenge, define, or support femininity? And how can artistic expression offer a space to navigate these questions?
