This movement residency project is based on the Japanese word "komorebi" which describes sunlight filtered through tree leaves, reflecting a cultural appreciation for subtlety and gentleness. This appreciation parallels Japanese cultural norms regarding personal space and reserved physical contact. Understanding "komorebi" helps comprehend how these cultural tendencies influence the expression of affection and shape interpersonal relationships in Japan. This residency is funded by the Goethe Institut's Culture Moves Europe program, which explores these cultural dynamics.
