CoLiCu - work in progress

Project/Residency Timeframe:

27/10/2025 - 02/11/2025

CoLiCu is a physical performance and research-based project at the intersection of theatre,

movement and sound, delving into the materiality, reactivity, and contemporary presence of three ubiquitous and coveted elements of the periodic table: Cobalt, Lithium, and Copper.

As artists, makers, but also citizens and consumers, we wonder how connected we feel to these

singular elements and their global uses and how we can get a more tangible experience and

understanding of their presence.

CoLiCu is perhaps a moment for a homage. A ritual to their tribute. A “conversation” about their

material agency. A fraction of time to get in contact, closer to that matter that runs the world, to

become with and next to them.

Day 1:

"Can you encapsulate a mountain inside a box?"

During the residency days we approach the periodic table of the elements as pseudo-alphabet for an endless work-making game, we played with the physicality of atomic particles, reactivity and regeneration, a first step into the world of alchemy. We entered body-mining processes as we discovered the importance of the horizontal plane in our work, folding and unfolding, rolling and unrolling horizontal lines of continuous movement as electric currents. Titles and subtitles made from single elements became conduit for the performance draft and scenographic elements, such as tarp, played a crucial role during the week, becoming performers and landscape at the same time.

We leave with a bunch of new questions, new perspectives and entry points, a rich pool of material and the confidence to continue searching our voices within this work.
